Grub Theme - WIP

Overview

Themes can have many challenges. For example, different themes may display differently depending on monitor resolution.

Themes can be found on Gnome-Look.org

grub-mkconfig

The script uses the grub-mkconfig command. This uses the system grub package and references /etc/default/grub. Here's an example of the grub config I used in the tutorial.

GRUB_DEFAULT="0"
GRUB_TIMEOUT="5"

GRUB_THEME="/home/z/Desktop/BootScript2/iso_creation/grub_theme_output/tela/theme.txt"

Script

You'll need to replace the Sed command based on what's in your generated grubconfig.cfg file. The output path for grub-mkconfig will also need to be changed.

mkdir -p grub_theme
cd grub_theme

git clone https://github.com/vinceliuice/grub2-themes.git

mkdir grub_theme_output

sudo grub2-themes/install.sh -t tela -g grub_theme_output

mkdir -p /mnt/drive/boot/grub/themes

cp -r grub_theme_output/. /mnt/drive/boot/grub/themes

sudo grub-mkconfig -o /home/z/Desktop/DistroFromScratch/grubconfig.cfg
sudo chmod 777 /home/z/Desktop/DistroFromScratch/grubconfig.cfg

#/boot/grub/themes

cd ../

sed -i 's/($root)\/home\/z\/Desktop\/BootScript2\/iso_creation\/grub_theme_output/\/boot\/grub\/themes/' grubconfig.cfg
sed -i '177,259d' grubconfig.cfg

sudo cp grubconfig.cfg /mnt/drive/boot/grub/grub.cfg
